Have a Happy Family Valentine’s day!
Are you ready for Valentine’s Day weekend? We know, parenting is a full-time job, but you deserve some time off. As new parents, the focus in your relationship shifts to your bundle of joy, the shiny new life that you created together! The pressures of transition from a couple into parenthood, the sleepless nights and 3 am nappy changes or ‘baby’s time to play’ can leave little room for romance. As clichéd as it sounds, Valentine’s Day can be an opportunity to reconnect as a couple and to remind yourselves that you share more than the responsibility of being responsive to your baby’s every need. If you’re feeling too tired to think of what to do, It’s ok to call in some help, grandparents?- sure they have their lives today too but give it a try or ask your reliable babysitter without feeling the ‘guilt’ of leaving the baby alone. Whatever you decide, take this time to remember who you are as a couple, outside of your roles as parents. If, well, no helper?, you could still check out that newly opened restaurant down your street and enjoy a meal while balancing a sleeping baby (if you are lucky) on one knee – what matters is that you’re spending quality time together alone- as a couple.
Moreso, you can take the pressure off from doing something spectacular, cozy up together at home and baby makes three!.
Even better you can finally catch up on those television series you keep falling asleep halfway through or watch that film you were too pregnant to enjoy when it came out in cinemas. For bonus points, order your favorite takeaway meal so you don’t have to worry about who’s going to do the washing up later.
Make your Valentine’s Day memorable by planning out activities that will nurture your relationships not only with your partner but as a family!
